Metro West Ambulance Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Team
Are you a local RN with ICU experience? Join our MICU/CCT Team as a part-time on-call RN. Make $600 a call while working just 4 on-call shifts per month.
Our MICU team provides the safest way to transport critically-ill patients from Emergency Departments and Intensive Care Units, with the training, skills, and knowledge to continue the same level of in-hospital care provided at the bedside. Our Metro West Ambulance CCT team consists of an experienced Critical-Care RN, an ALS Paramedic, and an EMT. Many of our critical-care nurses regularly care for this patient population bedside in our region’s largest ICU’s and ED’s. We’ve combined critical care nursing with emergency care, providing the highest level of ground critical-care transport in our region.

Requirements of the CCT RN position include:
- 2 years ICU/CCU or relevant experience
- Current RN licensure in Oregon and Washington
- ACLS
- CPR
- PEPP, PALS, EPC or ENPS
- PHTLS or TNCC
- CCRN, CFRN, CCT-Paramedic
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for adapting to the changing nature of healthcare, customer’s expectations, adapting to new delivery protocols, interaction with the medical centers, hospitals, and physicians and other service providers and overall exceptional, compassionate customer service

3. Demonstrate competency regarding ventilators (including Zoll Z Vent transport ventilator), hemodynamic and invasive monitoring, cardiac monitoring and treatment and on all specialized equipment carried by the CCT ambulance

Candidates are also required to hold a valid driver’s license, be 21 years in age or more, meet Metro West motor vehicle record, criminal background, drug and alcohol screening, and physical requirement standards. Metro West is a drug free workplace.
Physical Requirements
Unimpaired Mobility: Must be able to respond quickly to ambulance calls, must physically be able to access patients located in difficult terrain and dangerous environments and locations, must be able to climb stairs and other structures, must be able to work in close and dangerous environments, such as without limitation, damaged vehicles, must be able to carry heavy equipment and patients.
Physical Abilities: Must be able to perform strenuous physical requirements, including without limitation, lifting and moving of heavy equipment and patients in a variety of environmental and dangerous conditions, perform CPR and other lifesaving maneuvers. Ability to carry a fully stocked airway kit and medical kit up and down 18 steps once without stopping. Ability to (with the help of a partner) remove a patient weighing 180 pounds from the floor using a sheet or Mega-Mover and carry the patient 50 feet to an awaiting gurney. Ability to (with the help of a partner) remove a patient weighing 180 pounds from a chair and place the patient on the floor. Ability to perform one person CPR according to American Heart Association standards on a manikin for 5 minutes continuously without interruption. Ability to (with the help of a partner) secure a patient weighing 180 pounds to a backboard and carry the patient on the backboard to
an awaiting gurney 50 feet away. Ability to (with the help of a partner) load the gurney into an ambulance and move the patient on the backboard to the bench seat. Ability to (with the help of a partner) carry a patient weighing 180 pounds in a chair around a corner down 2 steps and around a second corner. Ability to use a four-point lift (with the help of partners) to carry a gurney with a patient weighing 180 pounds across uneven ground for 50 feet. Ability to change a tire on an ambulance.
Fine Motor Skills: Must be able to perform required medical skills and techniques, including without limitation, bandaging, splinting and establishing an IV, performing endotracheal intubation and other advanced airway techniques, manual defibrillation, pleural decompression.
Vision: Must have correctable vision that permits the safe operation of emergency vehicles, the reading of gauges, fine print and figures associated with emergent medical care and treatment; and color acuity to differentiate varying colors that may be necessary in providing emergency care and treatment.
Hearing: Must be able to hear sufficiently to obtain information provided by patients, family members, bystanders, medical professionals and other emergency personnel; and adequate hearing necessary to provide emergency care and treatment in active, distracting environments.
Speech: Must be able to speak and enunciate clearly and at a level audible to others in loud conditions. Must be able to verbally communicate in stressful and distracting environments with patients, family members, medical professionals and other emergency personnel.
